The fastest is just under six and the slowest is nearly thirteen, which is a wider spread than any other race on this list and the reason a plan is worth having. 02 · What it asks of you

Altitude is the input everyone leaves at its default

The low point of this course is higher than the summit of most races on this list. Nine hours between 6,636 and 9,255 feet is not the same nine hours you trained for at home, and the model has a setting for exactly that.

Nine hours of thin air

Sea level fitness does not arrive in Park City intact. Tell the model whether you are acclimatised and it re-prices every climb, because the ceiling on what you can hold moves with the air, not with your ambition. Getting this wrong is the single largest error available on this page.

Ninety percent singletrack

Where the trail is tight, the handling ceiling caps your speed and extra watts buy very little. Tag the course section by section and the plan separates the miles where fitness pays from the miles where line choice does.

Two aid stations, twenty-one miles apart at the end

Silver Lake at mile 26, Park City Mountain at mile 54, then 21 miles home. That last leg is the longest unsupported stretch and it comes when your reserve is lowest. The fueling plan is built around it.

Every climb ranked by what it takes out of your anaerobic reserve, not by how tall it looks. On a course this long the climb that empties you is rarely the steepest one. It is the one you arrive at with nothing left, and that is usually somewhere in the third quarter.

Fuel that covers the effort

Carbohydrate burned against what you can absorb, hour by hour, with a warning when the plan runs short. Nine hours is a fueling race before it is a fitness race. The plan says what to carry between Silver Lake and Park City Mountain, and what you need on you for the twenty-one miles after it.

Markers on your head unit

The longest climb, the hardest one for you, the recovery window before it and the technical stretch late in the day, sent to your Garmin, Wahoo or watch as waypoints.

Three steps before race morning

  1. Load the course. The organiser publishes the course and the three training segments, and the route is on Trailforks. Export the GPX, upload it, and set your altitude acclimatisation honestly.
  2. Say what the ground is. The trail’s own corners suggest where the ground changes; you name each section or describe the course in a sentence. Worth 13 to 17% of a finish time.
  3. Set the pace and get the plan. Weight and fitness once, then one slider drawn on what each pace costs: finish forecast, reserve at the line, fatigue curve, a fueling schedule, and the markers that matter sent to your head unit or watch. No power meter required.

How long does the Park City Point 2 Point take?

The organiser puts the average finish at nine hours, with the fastest just under six and the slowest close to thirteen. That spread is the point: the calculator forecasts your time from your own weight, threshold power and handling, rather than handing you an average you have no reason to match.

How much does the altitude cost me?

That depends on where you live and how long you have been in Park City, which is why it is a setting rather than an assumption. Tell the model whether you are acclimatised and it adjusts the power you can hold, and therefore the finish time, the fuel and the reserve.

Is 75 miles of singletrack really different from 75 miles of fire road?

Yes, and by more than most riders expect. Surface is worth 13 to 17% of a finish time in this model, more than changing bikes. Tag the course by section and the plan prices the tight miles differently from the open ones.

Where do I get the course file?

The organiser posts the course and its three training segments, and the route is on Trailforks. Any of them upload straight into the planner.

Does it handle two aid stations that far apart?

That is the case it is for. Mark Silver Lake and Park City Mountain, and the fueling plan works out what has to be on your back for the twenty-one miles between the last aid station and the finish.
