Plans & pricing

The physics is the same on every plan.

Pro removes the limits on how much you can put through it, and remembers who you are. Nothing about the model changes.

Every plan runs the same solver on the same physics. Guest and Free are not a cut-down model, they are the full one with a cap on how many courses you put through it.

Questions people actually ask

Before you pay for anything.

Is it cheaper to pay for the year?

Yes. $59 a year instead of $9 a month, which works out at $4.92 a month and saves you $49, or 45%. Worth it if you race a full season. If you only need it for one event, take the monthly and cancel when you are done. Both cancel from the same billing page, and neither one locks you in.

What happens when I save a second course on the free plan?

The new one takes the slot and the previous course is archived, not deleted. Its saved plans stay readable, and going Pro brings every archived course back live with nothing to restore. Planning is not limited at all: load and analyse as many courses as you like, and only saving uses the slot.

Does re-loading the same file cost me anything?

No. Loading a course is free and unlimited on any plan, however many times you do it. The free plan limits how many courses stay saved, not how many you can look at.

Why can I print the demo course but not my own ride?

So you can see exactly what the ride sheet looks like, the whole thing rather than a watermarked teaser, before deciding whether it is worth paying for. Load the guest course, hit print, and judge it. Printing the plan for a course you uploaded yourself is the Pro line.

What is advanced charting?

The free profile is colored two ways, by gradient and by what a climb will cost you when you reach it, and those are the two that explain how the model thinks. Advanced charting adds reading the course by what the model works out: color it by predicted power, predicted speed or calories per mile, with the actual numbers on the scale rather than words. It also draws time and calories for every mile, which is where you find out that the expensive miles are usually not the ones the elevation profile makes look hard. And it lets you keep any chart on screen while you place fuel points, so you can watch the tank respond instead of guessing. The model is the same either way; nothing about the physics is behind the paywall.

Can I send the plan to my Garmin or Wahoo?

You can export the course with your markers on it, as either a GPX or a TCX course file. Which one you want depends on the unit, and it is worth being straight about this because the differences are real. Use the TCX for a Garmin: it writes the markers as proper course points, which is what an Edge announces as you reach one, and the timings come from the ride the model predicts for you. A Wahoo ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3 or ROAM 3 shows markers from either file on the map; earlier BOLT and ROAM units list them in the cue sheet instead. A Hammerhead Karoo imports the route but drops the markers, so send that one through Ride with GPS if you want them. Suunto and Amazfit take the route happily, and manage points of interest separately in their own apps. Exporting is a Pro feature. Building and reading the markers is not.

What is a course marker?

Drag across any chart to select a stretch, a climb say, and the app tells you what the plan predicts you will average across it. Watts, or speed if you ride without a power meter, or how deep into your legs you will be when you get there, or how twisty it is. That becomes a marker, named with its own number, drawn on the map and every chart, and carried onto your head unit so it calls the stretch out as you arrive. You are not typing a target in. You are reading back what the plan already says, which is why the number moves when your FTP or the surface does. Your fuel points can be dropped in as markers too, so the unit tells you when to eat as well as when to push.

Can I see what Progression looks like before I pay?

Not yet, and it is the one part of the app you have to take on trust. Everything else you can try for nothing: the guest course runs the full model and prints the whole ride sheet. Post-ride insight needs a saved course and a saved plan to compare against, and both of those are Pro, so there is currently no way to show it to you without them. We would rather say that plainly than let a bullet point do the work. It is on the list to fix.

What happens if I cancel Pro?

You keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, then drop back to the free plan. Nothing is deleted. Your saved profile is still there if you come back.

Where does my payment actually go?

To Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s own checkout page and never touch this site. Redline Athlete only ever learns that a payment succeeded.

No card to look around. The guest demo runs the full model on a loaded route.
