Low point 2,155 ft, so the course spends its whole day between two thousand and five thousand feet, and the climbing is the honest kind: long, rooted and mostly unrideable to sit and spin on. At 124 ft per mile this is among the steepest endurance courses in the country by density. Your fatigue curve will not be a gentle ramp; it steps up on every big climb and gives little back.
Roughly four fifths of the distance is singletrack. On rooted, rocky trail the handling ceiling caps your speed no matter your watts, so the plan finds where extra fitness pays and where it does not.
Pisgah climbs run for miles without a flat shelf. The plan measures your longest stretch over threshold, which on this course is the number that decides whether you ride the last descent or survive it.
